WOW! It's been way too long!

I can't believe it has been almost a month since I posted here last. I have been busy, but that is bad.

Well I do have another "blog" that I host at my domain, so click if you want to check it out. Although that is no excuse it is more updated with what I have been up to.

I have also been working very hard on a new website, which by the way, also has a blog. I am building a site for our "Team" as a place where we can share ideas and help each other build our online businesses. I am posting free e-books and links to specific tools I use and like. I am very happy with the progress but it is taking up much of my time. With that and running a "handyman service" and raising kids, not to mention all the other online stuff I have going, it is hard to keep up sometimes.

I will work to do better keeping up here and when the site is done I will link to it from here.

God Bless!

My Latest Hubpage!

Safe Mail Services!

The Goings on Here and There!

Well, itt has been too long since I made a post. I kind of dropped the ball on my hurricane havoc series. I have been very busy though. My handyman business is starting to pick up a bit. I have managed to get a couple of contract with large companies to handle some of their accounts locally. So, between that and what I am selling and helping my brother with the delivery end of his mattress business I am keeping a full schedule.
When I get home in the evenings I am working on getting the book keeping and record keeping for the company set up. After the kids are finished with home work, baths and playing they final go to sleep and I have a little time to try and keep in touch with friends and family online.
In addition to that I am still trying to keep things going with my online businesses. I finally earned a commission last week on one of the projects I have been working on.
The kids are all doing good in school and seem to be very happy here. They are all excited about Halloween and looking forward to it.
Jackie is going out of town for the weekend, so I'll be a single dad for a few days.

Well, that's all for now! Go check out some of my links... would you?

Gotta do better than this!

Not a very interesting blog with this much time between post, is it? Well, I have been a little busy with work and between that Twitter, Squidoo, Hubpages, Wordpress and now Facebook, I don't know if I'll ever keep them all up to date.
I have been doing some work on a home that has had past hurricane damage. The home is now raised 3 feet higher and has a new front porch and rear stairway. The project is only about half done, but I'll try to post some pictures soon. I signed up for Facebook yesterday and found some people to try and stay in touch with. So far only one has accepted me request to be added to my friends list (my little sister). Sure seems like most of the people are younger than me, but that's OK, it will help me stay cool, right? My main reason for signing up is to try and establish some communication with my wonderful daughters Stephanie and Casey. My sister told me they were both Facebook people so I am going to give it a try. I love them very much and miss them more then I can say. I think maybe this could be a way to get to know each other again, but take it slow at the same time. We haven't really talked much lately and I keep telling myself, "I have tried" but I haven't try hard enough. After all I am the father. So, I am taking responsibility for my past and future actions, and making a real effort to start the rebuilding process.
Well, what else is going on? My younger children are all doing great in school and seem to be happy being closer to family. It feels really good to see them smiling more and getting to know their cousins.
I have to get some work done here before heading out, so I'll have to get going now.

Rescue! Is that what Uncle Sam is really doing?

So I am sure some of you most have seen the president tonight.... I don't know what to think. It sounds like something definitely needed to be done, but I don't know if this is it. I guess we'll all find out soon... huh?
Well, there is one thing I know for sure. I have some good honest review information on online businesses, tried and tested by successful marketers. The follow link is to a web page with information on the top performers: Money Making Opportunities

Here are a few other products that rise to the top when really tested. Real people can actually see some results with a little hard work.

Trying to get some readers here!

Well, I have been busy lately with all kinds of things.... home work with the kids... trying to read all the e-mail and build up credits with some traffic sites I am a member of. Working on keeping followers updated at "Twitter" and creating new lenses on Squidoo. I haven't paid much attention to my Hubpage recently. I am getting some calls for my Handyman service, and went out for a bid today on a hurricane damaged home about 17 miles away. I have another bid to do on Friday in Broussard. Check out my web site SOC's Home Services LLC.
I guess I'll get back to the hurricane series in a few days, but right now I have some other work to do. It looks like I'll be too busy to keep up with all the new TV series starting.... maybe that's a good thing!

Hurricane Havoc! Part 2

Camille was the second really big storm of my childhood in southern Louisiana. She came in August of 1969 as the largest tropical cyclone of that season and the second of three category 5 storms to make landfall in the US in the 20Th century. Camille was and Atlantic hurricane and the first to have reported winds of 190 mph. She made land fall near the mouth of the Mississippi on August 17Th and she did so after a
dump along the edge of Cuba as a category 3.

Camille wiped out almost everything along the entire gulf coast of Mississippi. Bay St. Louis, Mississippi is less than an hour drive from where I grew up in New Orleans. Man it was something to see the piles of debris scattered everywhere that a few days before had been big beautiful gulf coast mansions. There were large boats push way on shore, some left sitting inside what used to be homes and businesses. The storm surge was 24 feet at it's peak and the damage tally was 1.42 billion dollars. The damage total was very close to what Betsy got her nickname for, but the death toll was much higher at 259 people dead. This storm crushed the coast and then ran north causing problems across the Appalachians and on into the rest of Virginia.

I hear all kinds of stories on TV about how the storms are getting so much stronger and bigger, how global warming is making it worse. Camille, 190 mph winds, 24 foot surge, 259 dead, I am no meteorologist, but I believe there have always been cycles where we have a series of strong storms and then a period of lessor ones. The media today is much different than it was then, with so much coverage blasted worldwide. The Internet and The Weather Channel do report facts, but in some cases they do it with much drama. I guess the good thing is that government is being held much more accountable for protecting the communities that are at risk.

This storm struck the coast about 3 weeks after my eighth birthday and I remember it well, but I have seen several since then and I expect I will see several more.

Hurricane Havoc!

I don't know how many of you are aware that I am from Louisiana, but now you know. I grew up in New Orleans and I grew up with hurricanes. I remember when they were all female names, well I have to admit I remember further back than that. My first big one was "Betsy" in 1965. She caused big damage in the Bahamas and Florida before making landfall near the mouth of the Mississippi in New Orleans and at the time she was the most costly hurricane in history, earning her the nickname "Billion Dollar Betsy" as the first storm on record to cause over a billion dollars in damage. WOW! at today's prices that would be over 10 billion, she was also responsible for 76 deaths in my home state. I was just a kid at the time and watched things from a much different perspective than an adult would. I remember that we had a hurricane party of sorts with lots of friends and family over and I got to stay up late. What I remember most was burning my hand on the kerosene lantern I was told to stay away from. We had some street flooding and power outages and tree branches down but by the next day I was out playing in the street.

Just a note about the hurricane party thing, because even if you are not from Louisiana you have probably heard of it. It isn't just partying for the sake of partying. It isn't that we just get drunk and don't care what happens. The fact is some friends and family live in homes or areas that would put that more in harms way so they are invited to a safer place by other friends and family. The homes deemed to be the safest always ended up with a croud.

Years later I met my first wife who grew up across town from where I did and shared stories. As it turns out she and family members were rescued from the attic of her grandmother's home by boat. That's all I have to say about my first wife!

I'll eventually get to this decade, but you'll have to come back to read about Camille in 1969 and she came with 190 mph winds, highest recorded at her time.

If this is all boring you to death... check out some of my links to the right....

Hurricane Help!

Hey folks, I am a Louisiana boy and have grown up with hurricanes and hurricane preparation. I am just back home from a recent evacuation due to our friend Gustav! I am now offering service for residents and businesses trying to ready their homes or businesses for the next storm. It looks as though "Ike" may be coming our way soon enough. Join me in prayer that this doesn't happen, but call me if you need help. I can board up you windows and doors or place sand bags for you. I can help secure outdoor items or move them inside. If we get past this one and you need some help with repair or clean up, I'll be ready. Do not wait until the last minute because I have a family and property here to take care of, as well.

Business Opportunities for the Regular Folks!

I am sure you are already well aware that there are literally millions of business opportunities advertised on the web. Most of which claim they will make you rich very quickly, but they don't and they cost big bucks. If you are serious about making money from home, you should first realize it is not just a sit back and wait business, you have to work at it, especially in the beginning. You have to learn the ins and outs and get good at them. There are businesses that work which you can start for a small investment. I want to share some of the BizOps I found to work the best. I'm not doing it for nothing or just because I am a great guy. I do get a commission for sales, just like all people in sales and marketing. I do however, believe strongly in business integrity, and promoting good products. So take a look! What could it hurt?
